I document the everyday heroines that I come across regularly in Johannesburg and surrounding areas. I am a South African based female visual artist, born and raised in Soweto. I completed my Fine arts diploma at The Vaal University of Technology in 2014. As a Novice Creator committed to curiosity which profits results every time, I grew up aspiring to be a Botanist, but fell in love with Fine Arts. My work is progressive in creating distinctiveness for each unique piece. I am enthusiastic to explore my medium further.
I use many different mediums, such as enamels, oils, acrylics, and pastels. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style. My interest is to realize more about these women as i portray them in my art from painting on the enamel plates to unrefined sketches. The most common media i use are oil paints (paints that use oil to hold pigments together), tempera (pigments held together with egg yolk),
Currently I am documenting these ordinary women embodying strength, bravery and determination, yet their actions are unseen and often ignored. I am motivated and driven to uncover, by taking a closer look, listening and learning more about them, their lives and daily experiences. Through more determination and gaining insight to these women I am stimulated to celebrate them and to investigate what it means to be a black modern-day woman
